White Sands National Monument : 3/2018
Back in March, we had a super-crazy idea one day when we woke up in Cortez, Colorado. We had just arrived in CO Saturday after driving all day from Salt Lake. The day before on Friday we were skiing and snowboarding at Brighton resort. Sunday we spent all day in Mesa Verde National Park. Mike decided he wanted to drive to NM to go to White Sands. It was a 10-hour drive – at least twice as long as we usually do. But, what the heck! We packed up, hitched up and started our long trek. Mike still worked all day and we took turns towing. It was so worth the trip as we LOVED Las Cruces NM and our sweet spot at the base of the Organ Mountains. We loved White Sands so much that we spent a whole day and then went back another afternoon. Our first day it was overcast, breezy, and quite chilly with a light sprinkle – not normal weather at all. It was still such a beautiful place and so much fun.
We all had a blast sledding down the gypsum dunes. Such a very unique experience. And leave it up to Mike to snowboard down! He’s a hoot 🙂 The boys had more fun than they knew what to do with. They could have gone for days at this place! We have such great memories and we all laughed so hard all day that our faces and stomachs hurt later.
We took TONS of videos! Below is a video of each of us having the time of our lives!!
This place is must-see and needs to be on your list. Happy Travels!!!!
